Now with a little more flex appeal

APsystems Introduces Extended Connector “Whips” on DS3 Microinverters for Easier, More Reliable Installs

APsystems announces an important enhancement to our DS3 microinverter line: newly extended connector “whips,” designed to give installers more flexibility and reduce strain during module connections.

A common installation challenge occurs when module leads don’t quite reach the microinverter’s connectors with comfortable slack. When wiring is pulled too tight, connectors can be stressed or — in the worst cases — damaged during installation.

The updated DS3 design solves this issue by integrating longer built-in whips, providing extra reach and flexibility when connecting module leads. This added slack makes the installation process smoother, reduces the risk of overstressing connectors, and helps ensure long-term reliability in the field.

While extremely short module wires or wider-than-usual spacing between panels may still require a separate DC extension cable, the new whip length significantly reduces the need for additional components in everyday installations.

This improvement reflects APsystems’ continued commitment to listening to installer feedback and delivering hardware that is not only high-performance, but also installer-friendly.

Learn more about our DS3 microinverter here.

NOTE: The new flexible connectors will begin rolling out in APsystems products intermittently as both we and our national distributors continue to move through existing stock.

We don’t just power solar systems — we power knowledge

Across North America, APsystems hands-on trainings give solar professionals the tools, insights, and experience to excel in the field. Led by our technical experts and industry partners, these in-person sessions go beyond theory — helping you master real-world applications and stay ahead in a fast-evolving solar landscape.

Like our recent training in Calgary, Alberta, local installers came together for a full day of learning and connection. Hosted by our distributor partner BayWa r.e. at their Calgary warehouse, APsystems and Soluna led hands-on sessions showcasing the pairing of our ELS-11.4k inverter storage with the Soluna battery. Installers had the opportunity to ask in-depth questions, discuss product performance, and complete a firsthand installation. With both morning and afternoon workshops packed with insights and interaction, attendees left energized, informed, and ready to deliver new solar solutions on their next installs.

Details on our next training events here.
