Carlson Electric Veterans Center:
Carlson Electric LLC was named the U.S. Nonprofit Winner in APsystems’ 2024 Installation Awards for their 21.6kW ground-mounted solar project at the Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior, Wisconsin. Funded in part by a Solar for Good Grant from the Couillard Solar Foundation and RENEW Wisconsin, the project lowered operating costs for the Center while serving as a powerful educational tool. “The QT2 microinverter’s ability to handle 3-phase, 208V power was critical for this nonprofit site, making APsystems the ideal partner,” said Dan Herscher, Sales Consultant at Carlson Electric. With its 4:1 panel-to-microinverter ratio, APsystems’ QT2 technology allowed for a faster, more efficient installation—helping bring renewable energy to life for the community.
More than just a cost-saving measure, the project turned the Center into a living classroom. Real-time production data was displayed in the lobby, giving visitors a firsthand look at clean energy in action. “Displaying solar production on a monitor was a major requirement, and APsystems technology makes that possible,” Herscher added. The April ribbon cutting, attended by the Mayor of Superior and other local leaders, celebrated not only a leap toward sustainability but also a tribute to veterans. As Herscher put it, “We really appreciate having a 3-phase microinverter option,” underscoring how APsystems’ reliability and innovation helped power Carlson Electric’s growing community impact.
